1. Review of the catchment area
Today was quite cold and breezy, outside temperature was only +2 celsius but we managed to review the catchment area quite good. We started the day by walking around Pieni-Valkeinen where we were did following things:
Current weather conditions
So the weather was quite cold and cloudy but there was barely any wind and it didn’t rain so we were happy with the days weather.
Water catchment area
Most of the catchment are is forrest, but there is also quite a few buildings and a school at the catchment area. Most of the catchment area seems to be on the west side of Pieni-Valkeinen.

Water incomes and outlets
There is 1 water income and 1 water outlet on the pien valkeinen. Water flows from the water outlet to Iso-Valkeinen and it’s located on the east side of Pieni-Valkeinen.

Water usage
People use Pieni-Valkeinen mostly for it’s beautiful view, but it is also possible to swim or even go fishing there, maybe even go rowing with a boat.
Emission sources which affect negatively the lake
Traffic nearby and people living around the lake affects negatively on the lake. There were many houses on the beach which means that nutrients from yard plants might flow to the lake. We also found a lot of trashes around the lake, it was quite obvious that the lake eutrophicates.
8. Vegetation study
On Tuesday 8.10.2019 we did the vegetation study. We had to find seven different kind of species of the vegetation as they grow at different nutritional areas. This way we will find out the proper tracking and renovation ways for the planning needs. Because of the late fall there wasn’t that much vegetation any more but we found almost all which were needed.
There you can see examples of each species |
1.Air-flocking vegetation
Sedges (Carex) |
2.Sink-leaf vegetation
