"Rave in the woods"

Last Friday we explore for the first time groundwater quality at the Pieni-Valkeinen. We measure the groundwater level, purge the monitoring well, took the water samples and measured water pH, conductivity, dissolved oxygen and temperature.

We had unexpected results during the purge, because water became more and more muddy. First it was pretty clear and finally it looked really muddy. My guess is that water was not presenting real groundwater in the area. It might be that clay, which was used to seal well installation, was infiltrating through the sieve part. For this reason we have to continue rinsing the groundwater well until water is clear. So, we keep on pumping!

We used inertia pump to purge the well. I think students found it's unique sound (beat) interesting because at some point there was miniatyre rave in the woods going on! Like @salmisaarensalome described in her Instagram photo and it's captions: #pumpitup #raveparty #groundwater #savoniaamk

It was raining, it was little bit chilly, it was muddy, I forgot some important equipment's, timetable for teaching was not working... And still students were interested in learning things about groundwater (and "raving" at the same time), thank you, it was fun!
